Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
I live in a apartment that is illegal. Landlord states that I rented the apartment for commercial use. Landlord has taken me to civil court, however, the case was dismissed when I showed the lawyer a copy of the lease and picture of stove. Now I am in housing court in a holdover case. No rent has been paid for 8 months. What are my legal options?

A holdover case is different than a nonpayment case in that the landlord may evict you whether or not you pay rent.
