Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New York
I live in Auburn NY. See we pay 700$ a month plus utilities plus we have to pay water as well. Our landlord decided he wanted to do work on the house. Not only did he want us to pay for the water and electric used on our bills for his work, we went 7 1/2 days with out any appliances, no stove washer or dryer. Our rent is due on the first of the month, my mom asked him if she could talk to him about the rent and that she had deductions. We were going to take off costs of food, and time without utilities. We received a letter Friday June 4 from his lawyer of a leaving the premises within 3 days. Any advice or anything would be appreciated. Our landlords name is Daniel J. Emmi. His family owns Emmi Realty.

In the future do not place personal information such as names on a question.
You have two choices. Either you may pay the full rent and commence an action in small claims for overpayment due to his use of electric and water and due to your failure to have appliances under the terms of your rental agreement. Or, you may argue these issues in landlord / tenant court by arguing breach of warranty of habitablility.
