Your question is lacking too much information that might be useful to understand the context.
I cannot give anything but the most general response, which may not be particularly useful.
My best answer is: Yes, public policy gives support to your claim that the text of an agreement will tend to be interpreted more favorably to the party that did NOT draft the agreement.
On the other hand, the presence or absence of a lawyer is no particularly important at a real estate closing.
