Tenant's rights

A woman I know has lived in Brooklyn for 9 years with no lease. Her landlord has asked her to leave in one month time because he is selling the building. Is she required to leave with such short notice?

Re: Tenant's rights

As a month to month tenant, a landlord has the right to terminate the lease upon service of a 30 day notice.
