Legal Question in Personal Injury in New York

If a client has misgivings about their representing attorney, and calls the firm where they are co-counsel to talk to someone for reassurance, or to find out if they can replace that lawyer, and makes it explicitly clear that they do not wish for that attorney to know about the call ... does that law firm (in this case, the exec. secretary to the main partners) have the right to completely disregard the client's wishes and contact that attorney despite VEHEMENT objections by the client (in this case, me)?

I am livid, just livid.

Perhaps bad form on the part of the secretary, but nothing more. You always have the right to change lawyers within a firm, or change firms if your wishes are not respected. Best, M. E. Zuller
