Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New York
I signed a contract with buyer in early July 2011. As yet now closing date has been set. I want to set a deadline for getting out of the deal because I am not renting my coop and am paying each month on an empty apartment. What are my rights and waht can I do?

I would speak to and follow your lawyer's advice. Short of that, you should direct him to send a time of the essence letter.
