Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in New York

Looking for NYC Lawyer for Sexual Harrassment at Work

I have a few questions about what I can do legally and financially about an extreme sexual harrassment situation at work. I'm the victim and it involves ''forcible touching.'' I've already filed with HR and plan on leaving my position, but what can I do as far as compensation? Is it worth hiring a lawyer? Can I quit and get compensated for pain and suffering and leftover vacation days, etc?

Re: Looking for NYC Lawyer for Sexual Harrassment at Work

The U.S. Supreme Court has recently reaffirmed that sexual harassment may be so egregious that it causes working conditions to become so intolerable that a reasonable person would feel compelled to resign. In such a case, the law considers the employee to have been "constructively discharged"--which means that, even though you may quit or resign, the law treats this situation as if the employer wrongfully fired you. And in such a case, you would be entitled to compensation under Title VII. From what you say here, it seems that you would be strongly advised to retain a lawyer.
