Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in New York

underage rape and robbery

My brother-in-law just got arrested for robbery and rape. Does NY laws charge him as an adult or what could happen to him. He is only 15 years old. help please!

He is a juvenile, but he can be charged as an adult if the District Attorney choses to go that route, and he otherwise qualifies. It is rare for that to happen however. If he was just arrested, he may be held for up to 24 hours until he sees a judge. After that they may set a bail and not release him.
