Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
fight parking ticket (confusing sign)
I need help to fight a $115 parking ticket issued @ 40th St in Manhattan. I parked in front of new sign which states 'no standing' 7am-10am, 4p-7p, Mon-Fri, other times no standing except commercial vehicles metered parking, 3 hr limit. These new signs are misleading because they post a time limit and day restriction. My ticket states violation of section 4-08, no std comm mtr zone (l) (3) (ii), days/hrs: all days/all times. Ticket is completed via computer, no missing info and ticket is signed (no vin# input). Is there any viable way to fight this?

Re: fight parking ticket (confusing sign)
There are 2 ways: 'Hearing by Mail' and an 'in-person' Hearing at a NYC Dept of Finance center.
Your defense will be "sign wrongly recorded on the summons". The summons says 'all times' and the sign said '7-10 and 4-7'. If you have a private license plate (not commercial), then the sign could be interpreted as congruent with the summons; there is no standing at any time for a private plate.
