Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York
Improper left turn & ticket errors/omission
I recently received a ticket for an improper left turn in NYC. The officer filled-in the circle for ''city'' on the ticket, but didn't write-in ''New York'' (he left the line blank). On the ticket he also wrote that I was in violation of VAT section ''1163 AT.'' I checked VAT 1163 and there is no section ''1163 AT.'' There's only sections A through E, therefore I submitted the ticket as ''not-guilty.'' Do you think I have a chance to have the ticket dismissed if I bring these two items to the attention of the traffic judge at the trial?
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Re: Improper left turn & ticket errors/omission
No: ministerial errors are not grounds for outright dismissal. At your hearing a competent traffic defense attorney might persuade the Aministrative Law Judge that these errors plus the officer's shoddy testimony at the hearing warrant a not guilty verdict. You may contact my office for a free phone consultation.
