Legal Question in Traffic Law in New York

Speeding Ticket I-90

Hi ,

I just received a speeding ticket 93 on 65 zone. This is my 1st driving offense. I have a clean record.

What are my options?

How much is the normal fine in NY if I plead guilty?

Is it cheaper going with a lawyer or Is it cheaper paying the fine?

Thanks

Options: You can plead guilty or not guilty. I would plead not guilty.

This ticket carries 6 points, can result in your insurance going up, has roughly $200 fine plus a $300 driver assessment fee attached to it.

We can likely save you money and points. Call us to discuss how we can make fighting this ticket easy and simple.

Pleading not guilty and requesting a hearing is always recommended. The driver can benefit by having a hearing. More often, however, the ticket can be resolved through the mail. Hiring an experienced traffic attorney in the area that understands the use of radar, its accuracy, and the certifications required to use it properly is vital to not only trying to win, but to keep your insurance premiums lower for years to come. Paying a little today may save you two or three times in the future.

Our firm handles these types of issues and would be happy to help. I would need to review the ticket and see what can be done. Please contact my firm and I would be happy to assist.

Fine range is $475 to $685 ($90-300 fine, $85 surcharge, and $300 DMV assessment). Your speed is high enough that many judges would fine you the max, but some would fine you less.

Our fee is usually $500 for a ticket like this. We would usually get it reduced to something with fines around $250 - so we don't save you enough on fines to make up for our fee.

The big question is whether this would affect you in CT. Their regulations say yes, and I've heard from one client that an out-of-state ticket did show up on his record. I suggest you check with your insurance agent.

We handle tickets across most of New York State - all courts north of NYC with only two exceptions.
