Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

My 1st cousin in died in NYC and does not have a primary family - my brothers and I are it. How do we get access to her apartment, records, etc.?

If there is a Will, the nominated executor can undertake the process. If there is no Will, then you and your brother may apply to the Surrogate to be appointed as Administrators.
