Amendment to Will

I need to add another beneficiary to my will - do I need to see an attorney or can I type up the additional request and sign it ?

Re: Amendment to Will

The addition to the will in the manner you describe would be a nullity. A will to be effective in New York, must be signed at the end of the document and the signature must be witnessed by at least two individuals. Once signed, it cannot be changed except by the execution of a new will.

Re: Amendment to Will

I agree with Norman that this could nullify your Will. You could redo the Will or just do a Codicil (amendment) and have it signed, witnessed and notarized just as was done with your Will. You could see a lawyer or buy a form at a stationery store (Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, etc.) and do it yourself. If you need assistance, I can do this for you, so contact me directly. Fee will not be large.
