Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

How do I get a copy of a will

Hello,

I'm Canadian and I am trying to determine how or if I can get a copy of my grandmothers WILL...she was an American citizen. I don't know who the executor/administrator and the attorney handling the estate are. I do know there was a will

So, how do I get my hands on the will, or a copy of it?

Your first task is to find out what state and county she resided in at the time of her death.

Next, when did she die?

Communicate with the Surrogate's Court in the County in which she resided at the time of her death.

I she died recently, it is possible that the Will has not been filed for probate.
