Cost of probating a will

To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to know the prices of probating a will. I would like to know what a lawyer will charge me to take my dad's will to them to probate.

Re: Cost of probating a will

There are a number of ways of paying for the administration of an estate, including probate. The attorney's fee can be a percentage of the the net taxable estate or can be calculated on an hourly basis. In some cases, depending upon the amount and nature of work involved, the estate can be administered for a flat fee.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

Probate of a Will is generally very easy. If you are worried about money, take the Will to the Surrogate's Court and the clerks will be very helpful in guiding you through the process.

The administration of the estate, that is assembling the assets, paying funeral costs and debts and taxes, is the task that generally requires a lawyer.

The fee should not exceed the executor's commission which depends on the size of the estate and is set by law.

I charge $200 an hour for any work I do and I am known to work efficiently.

As stated, attorneys can charge hourly, a flat fee, or a % of the estate. In my opinion, a flat fee for a small estate is the best arrangement. If you would like a free consultation, please call me at 212-208-2470. Best of luck!
