how can i find out if i am in a will?

a friend of the family recently passed away in new york.

how can i find out if i am in the will. how long does it take to read a will? thank you.

If he is named in the Will, he will be notified. If he is a child or grandchild (parents deceased) but not named in the Will he will also get notice.

Eventually the Will will be filed in the Surrogate's Court in the County where the person died and this record is public.

The "reading of the Will" has been dispensed with many years ago, except for the movies.
