Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

grandson

Hi. My grandma recently passed away and her daughter(my mother) died in 1986. My grandma also has two other living daughters. As far as I know, I am supposed to be one of the trustees in my grandma's will along with my two aunts. However, my aunts have been vague about the details of the will or if there is a will at all, which makes me suspicious of their intentions.

Do I have a stake in this as the son of my grandma's late daughter? If my aunts are trying to squeeze me out, how should I proceed?

Re: grandson

You have a statutory right to be notified of the initiation of a probate proceeding (filing the Will in the Surrogate's Court) and administration proceeding (no Will).

You can communicate with the lawyer who last provided services to your Grandmother. In the end though, it is your aunts that you must deal with so ask them for a copy of the Will.
