Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Inheritance

My question is for a 20 year old friend. He beleives his grandfather has left him an inheritance. Upon his grandfathers death, his mother has control of the estate. She refuses to tell him if anything had been left to him. Is there any way he can find out? My friend has very little money. Thank you

Re: Inheritance

Inheritances are created by Wills. After a person dies the Will is filed with the Surrogate (probate).

Go the Surrogate's office and ask for a copy of the Will. Then read it.
