Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Keeping a will from being public

My mother wants to keep the terms of her will private when it's probated. She said that terms of a will are made public when this happens. She heard somewhere of having some sort of disclaimer instead of or in addition to a will, which would state that ''my executrix'' (that's me!) ''knows what I want to do.'' This would presumably prevent specifics from being mentioned and published.

Is this legit? Needless to say, I foresee nothing but trouble ahead.

Sure, it's a problem.

A revocable trust may provide a means of preventing the dispositive provisions of her estate from being publicized.
