This question is asked frequently and it is a tough one to answer.
There is no fool proof way.
The decedent's check book will reveal payments, if any, to lawyers.
Friends or family might know.
Business contacts may know.
Letters and bills left by the decedent might reveal the name of the lawyer.
Give it all a try.

You could start by asking friends and family of the decedent. If you have legal access to the decedent's personal papers, look for bills and/or canceled checks.
