Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
My mother just passed away in New York state.. I was disinherited in her will for reasons of no contact with her and my father for years. I received a copy of the will with a form to fill out and be notorized from me, {their adopted daughter } so the will can go to court to be probated and to make my father the executor. Do I have to sign this form? What will happen if I don't?

You are not required to sign the document and you cannot be penalized for failing to sign it. If you refuse to sign the document then in due course you will receive a Citation which will notify you of a date by which you must express your objections to the probate of the will. If you fail to express objections, then you will have no further interest in the estate.
