Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

NY Power of Attorney

Will our NY Power of Attorney that my brother and I each have for our 92 yr. old mother be able to be used in Alabama? My mother is next of kin for my deceased brother, who was from Alabama. We are going to Alabama on 6/11 to take care of my brothers business affairs

You'll have to ask an Alabama lawyer to get a responsible response to your question.

While the Power should be recognized everywhere, if it were notarized, it might not be useful in your brother's case. I suggest calling the Surrogate's Office involved in Alabama. The probability is that there are special forms needed, whereby your mother needs to renounce her potential appointment in favor of you and/or your brother. These forms may be able to be signed using the POA, but it is best to check first.
