Probate

My grandfather passed and one of his accounts has just been frozen due to his expiration.How can either his wife who is living or any of his relative lay claim to the funds?

If there are joint accounts with right of survivorship, the joint owner armed with a death certifcate can get the account. If in name of decedent only, an Executor (if there is a Will) or an Administrator (if there is no Will) must be appointed. If the estate is less than $25,00 a Small Estate proceeding can be commenced; it is quite simple to do without a lawyer.
