Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Reading of the will

Can anyone attend the reading of a will? Do you have to be cited in the will in order to attend or can you just show up?

Do you have to be invited?

thank you

Re: Reading of the will

The "reading of a Will" is an anachronism and just isn't done anymore.

The Will is offered for probate, filed with the Surrogate and the Surrogate's records are available to the public.

If you are mentioned in the Will you are entitled to a copy.
