Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
Is there a standard attorney fee for settling an estate?
For an uncomplicated, equally distributed will/estate, is there a standard attorney fee, such as 1% of the total estate?

There is nothing set in stone. Depending on the size of the estate and the issues involved, the legal fees may be in the area of 3-5% of the estate. In the alternative, you can pay an attorney on an hourly basis.

Attorneys charge differing amounts. I have heard of fees as high as 10% of the estate. Some attorneys charge a percentage, some bill hourly.
