Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Hi,

I am trying to track down money that was put into a trust for me by a court in NY after an accident, the trust was with Jamaica Savings which no longer exists, my Mother was the trustee, unfortunately both my parents have passed away so I have no information on it. Is thee anyway to trace the case history to find the trust?

I also no longer live in the US. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

I am assuming that money was placed in the account upon settlement from a personal injury action.

I would first conduct a search to determine if the money ultimately "escheated" to NYS. You can conduct the search with the NYS Office of Unclaimed Funds at http://www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf/index.htm.

You may also look up your case at the following website: http://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/webcivil/etrackLogin

I agree. The probability is that the fund escheated to the State and can be recovered from the unclaimed property fund. You might also check with the Surrogate in the County in which you lived when the fund was created, as they might have some information.
