My uncle didn't leave a will

Hi, my uncle died three years ago and didn't leave a will or a list of people that he owed money. I have reason to believe that he owed my grandmother some money that she would need to pay for medical bills. How can she collect that money from the wife.

His wife is responsible for the payment of the debt only if she took money from your uncle's estate, and then only to the extent of the value she obtained. The surrogate's file may show this.

Then your grandmother must file a timely claim along with proof. The claim may be barred by the statue of limitations.
