Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York
We have a will, executed by a lawyer about 10 years ago. We want to change the beneficiaries and the percentages alloted to them. I have retyped the initial document to reflect these changes. Will this document be legally accepted?

Not unless it is properly executed in accordance with the statute.
Furthermore, there should be an affidavit by the witnesses that the will was properly executed and that you were of sound and disposing mind. That is called a self-proving will and generally does away with the need to have the witnesses come forward at time of probate.
