Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New York

Will written under laws of Quebec in the US

My husband and I are planning on writing a will that will be notarized in the province of Quebec. We were married under Quebec law as well. However, my husband has retirement money(41k) in New York and a property in New Jersey. If his will states that I am to get all his assets and property, is this legally binding in the US for the US based assets and property? If not what do we need to do in order to avoid a ''legal battle'' over the will with the US governement?

Re: Will written under laws of Quebec in the US

A will validly executed in Qubec is recognized to dispose of property located in New York and other states. The Will can dispose of property any place in the world. The 401 K Plan is disposed of by a Beneficiary Designation which should be obtained from the plan administrator.
