Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in North Carolina

I received a summons from Palasaids Collections, who took over my defaulted GE Money Bank (Care Credit). I defaulted due to being disabled & out of work for 3 months. I can't afford a lawyer or to pay this back. It's over $8,000.00 now, after interest & penalties. What can I do?

See if you are eligilble for Legal Aid. You will need some legal assistance or you will need to learn how to fight it on your own. If you don't respond within 30 days, they will get a judgment against you. If you respond but admit the debt, they will get a judgment against you.
