Legal Question in Criminal Law in North Carolina

My husband has been arrested on charges of 2 counts indescent liberties and 1 count statutory rape. Prior to the arrest, at the interrogation, the investigator did not believe any of his statement so he put the statement in his own words and made my husband sign it without saying anything about having an attorney present. Also, when he was arrested, he was never read his rights. Is there anything we can do to prove his innocence?
