Military Divorce

I am married to a man in the military who was divorced in Washington state, however the process was started in NC. He was married to his ex-wife for 4 years and she has a child from a previous marriage for whom she received child support. At the date of seperation, she made approximately the same amound of money he did, he was ordered to pay her $500/month in alimony, as well as pay off the marital debt. Last year, in March, the amount of alimony was increased to $900/month, at this point she makes more than he does. He was unable to attend that court date because he was deployed to Korea, he did notify the court of this but they went ahead with proceedings anyway. We just got finished with the court proceedings fighting this. At this point, the judge has ordered him to continue to pay her $500/month for the next year as well as give her a portion of his retirement. Not sure what to do from here, what are our options?

Your fact statement is confusing. You frame it as beginning in NC, but that they were divorced in WA, but you frame it as a NC law question. In what state was the decree of dissolution of marriage issued? What state are the hearings happening in? Quality of question affects quality of answer.
