Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in North Carolina
The rental company I currently rent through for my townhouse is charging me $750 for a maintenance fee for replacing the A/C unit in my home. They sent someone out to do a freon charge and then it went out again, and then they came back and said they were replacing the A/C unit. About a month or two later they sent me a letter saying I owed them for the replacement A/C until due to dog urination causing the coil to fry. I feel wrongfully charged since they went behind my back with the charges after everything was done.

If there is evidence that your dog damaged the unit, they can charge you. You have the right to ask for proof of that evidence.
