covanents

i bought a house in wilson nc a year in a half ago. I was never told of any covanents and know i am getting this letter of covenants telling me what i can and can't do with my property. what can i do

A typical offer to purchase has language like:

"Prior to signing this Offer to Purchase and Contract, Buyer is advised to review Restrictive Covenants, if any, which may limit the use of the Property, and to read the Declaration of Restrictive Covenants, By-Laws, Articles of Incorporation, Rules and Regulations, and other governing documents of the owners’ association and/or the subdivision, if applicable."

You need to follow the covenants. If your situation is such that you think you were misled, then consult with a real estate litigation attorney.
