Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

property taxes

I purchased a new home as an investment property in Charlotte , N.C. in August 2007. I received a tax bill for property taxes on the property for 2006. My lender (Chase) paid the bill which was for 330.00 out of my escrow account making my paid on my mortage increase. I contacted the settlement company about this matter and sent a copy of the cancelled check fro my lender showing that the taxes were paid. I didn't own the property in 2006 and I was wrongfully charged. The settlement company is just dragging thier feet own this matter and I need this problem solved asap. What is my legal recourse???

Re: property taxes

Find a reputable real estate attorney in Charlotte. Many of them do not like these settlement companies who typically charge more for closings and are not nearly as regulated as attorneys.
