Legal Question in Real Estate Law in North Carolina

I sold my home over 16 years ago. The buyer defaulted on the mortgage about 3 years ago and my name was on the lawsuit against the buyer. I have no interest in the property. Why am I on the lawsuit and what liability do I have?
