Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
I am interested in starting a small business, and I need to know if I need to obtain any special licenses? I want to start a referral service that offers consumers second chance housing. I plan to acheive this by obtaining a list of landlords that will rent to those with bad credit by utilizing a co-signer service. Since I will be the liason between the potential tenant, landlord, and the co-signer service, do I need any type of license or classification to market this type of service? I realize that I will need separate agreements for each detailing my obiligations and liabilities in each relationship. Any idea of the cost of having such agreements prepared? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

As a franchise attorney, I can say you definitely need the standard business license issued by the city where your business resides, and any other cities in which you do business. I am not aware of any other special licenses, but you can also check with the city department that issues business licenses. As to cost of preparing the agreements, it is not possible to say other than figure 4 to 8 hours at an attorney's hourly rate. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
