Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio

Any legislation or legal prececedants relating to blatant discrimination against small businesses?

I don't want to give too many specifics because this question will be publicly viewable. Basically my organization provides both tangible an intangible services, and we are not in the supply chain for any tangible goods. A client of mine recently forwarded me an email he received from the upper management in his company specifically forbidding any agents of their company from using "small businesses" for the type of work my company does. The services I provide do not require any large amount of supplies or a large workforce. The work I recieve from this client is not high volume in nature. I know I'm rather vague here, but I just need pointed in the right direction, if there is one. Thanks!

This really is too vague to respond to. Generally, the law tries to stay out of free enterprise and the private sector and let businesses enjoy the freedom to conduct their affairs as they wish. But, like everything else, it is regulated to an extent and alot of that depends on the industry. For example, in the construction industry, it's common for minority subcontractors to be given contracts based on that status and there are regs that require the general contractors to file a quota for that. Based on the limited information you gave me, and without knowing the industry, my first thought is i don't see why this company can't choose to do business with whoever they prefer.
