What does LPA after a law firms name mean? Example is John Smith Co., LPA.

It means the law firm is operating in corporate form. Legal Professional Association is the term. It also means that only the attorney who represents a client is personally responsible for a malpractice claim. The other members of the association are only responsible up to their investment in the firm.
