Legal Question in Business Law in Ohio
Unsolicited Faxing
I am a part of a small business struggling to get started. On April 15, 2002 we called some chiropractors in our area. We asked the receptionists if we could have their fax number so we could fax the doctor some information. Out of 8 offices called, only 3 decided to give us their fax number. The others told us to just mail some information. 1 of the 3 that gave us their fax number is trying to scare us in to settling out of court for $4500.00. They said what we did was illegal, even though we recieved permision from the receptionist to send the fax. What are my rights. What can we do being a business that is just getting started, obviously we have little money.
Thank you

Re: Unsolicited Faxing
I can't offer you any advice without knowing the substance of the fax, or the basis for the doctor's demand.
