Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

civil lawsuite?

I was an authorised user of a credit card not in my name. after the relationship ended i attempted to pay the debt. the owner of the card did not pay the monthly payments now when I try to get an amount so i can settle the debt they are not giving me a total but are now trying to file a civil suit to get payment. how can I settle a debt when I can not get the other party to supply me with the proper documentation to support thier claim? Will a Judge see this or is it just me? I know in Ohio as an authorized user I am not legally liable for any of the debt. Any suggsetions on how to make this go away without paying all that they are asking for. The oriiginal debt was around $7000 of which I have already paid almost $4000.00 they now want $16000 more. I have reciepts for payments already made.

Re: civil lawsuite?

You are going to have to subpoena the complete account records from the credit card company so you can prove which of these debts, and interest is yours.
