Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Company being sued along with me for bad debt?

I took out a payday loan in 2003 that I defaulted on. I was just contacted that it is still outstanding and the company is threatening to sue the company I work for since I used their property to fax over documents. This is the first time I have had any collection notice for this loan. Can they persue a lawsuit against the company I work for and what is the chance that they can reveal information about this to my co-workers. I offered to set payment arrangements, but they want all or nothing.

Re: Company being sued along with me for bad debt?

First, I cannot think of a legal basis upon which the creditor could pursue a suit against your employer.

Second, if they are interfering with your employment by harassing and bad mouthing you at work, this could be a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act.
