debt bank garnishment

I have a friend in Ohio that recently had a bank garnishment for a unpaid credit card they took all of her paycheck in her checking acount. Is this legal?

She is going to court about this matter Monday the 24th in Parma Municipal court.

Yes. A bank account can be garnished as long as the creditor has a valid judgment against the debtor. If the money garnished in the bank account was money from a paycheck, then your friend probably doesn't have a defense to the garnishment. The only defense you can have to a bank garnishment if there is a valid judgment would be that the money garnished is exempt from garnishment. For example, if the money in the bank account was money from social security, this would be exempt from garnishment.
