Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Wanting me to pay on her debit! (credit cards)

A woman I went out with 6 yrs ago, out of the blue sent me a letter saying she was in credit card trouble to the tune of $12,000. She asked me to pay her $4000 as that was what she said ''i helped spend'' while we were together! I never said or signed anything saying that or anything like it! I do not keep in touch with this person and now out of nowhere she asks for this money ! She said she didn't want to take me to court ,but she would! What can she really do?

Thank you

Re: Wanting me to pay on her debit! (credit cards)

I dont believe she would have any recourse against you. I assume that you never borrowed money or asked her to charge something for you on her credit card and agreed to pay her back.

I am also assuming your name isnt on the credit card nor are you an authorized user on her credit card.

Since there is no written contract or oral contract between both of you where you agreed to pay her back for items charged on the credit card, then I don't think she has a case.
