Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
Divorce, co signer Rsponsibility and Bankruptcy
Was married for 22 years. My husband always needed me to Co sign for loans or credit cards he wanted in his name. We have been divorced almost 3 years now and he took responsibility for his debts in his name. Last Summer he filed for Bankruptcy and the collection agency came after me because I had been the co signer for two of his credit cards. I was told I had to pay them and there was nothing I could do about it. I did pay them off to keep my credit in good standing but feel like I've been taken to the cleaners and he got off scott free. Is there anything I can do about this. Thank you.

Re: Divorce, co signer Rsponsibility and Bankruptcy
Depending on what your separation agreement says you may be able to file contempt against him for non payment of the credit cards he agreed to pay in the divorce.
Good Luck!!!!
