Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio

Garnishment

I had a judgment placed against me from a creditor who used a law firm as a collection agency. I received a demand for action letter which I took down to the court which they help set up a trust account for me so I do not get garnished but I kept advising the amount that I had to pay was to high based on the fact I had children an a wife. I could not continue to pay into the trust so I had to tell the courts to release me from the trust account. Is their any types of ways which I can try to negotiate this old credit card bill which I can pay off by the end of the year without them trying to garnish my money which will hurt my family. I do have a checking account and savings account.

Re: Garnishment

You or an attorney on your behalf can try and negotiate a lump sum settlement which is less than the full amount owed. Sometimes, a creditor with a judgment will be willing to take a lump sum settlement rather than spending time and money garnishing wages. Feel free to contact me with further questions. Thank you.
