Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Ohio
Ohio
I'm on disability and in the middle of a messy divorce, my soon to be ex-wife was informed by the courts to continue assisting me with the mortage but of course she has not. Plus she did return the car she just recently purchased because she stated she couldn't continue payments. My question I was told that the creditors could still come after me for the car purchase and the house payments. I'm letting the house go and moving into a apparent that I can afford. Can the bank or creditors take my disability check?
You're input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As a general rule, disability payments are not subject to attachment by creditors. The correct answer may depend on the exact nature of your payments. Because the car and house issues involve your divorce, you should speak to your divorce attorney about how those questions are affected by the divorce court proceedings.
