Paying for funeral

My son Marty who was 38 died in south carolina last summer.His father brought the body to st.marys,ohio for arrangements and burial. Father and I have been divorced for 25 years. Father and Martys sister made all arrangements and now there telling me I have to pay for the funeral.

My son served his time in NAvy but no longer active. Do I have to pay for his funeral. I am unable to pay for this. I signed no papers..Father and sister signed all papers

Since you did not sign the contract with the funeral home, technically, you are not respponsible for the bill. The Navy will provide some death benefits, but you should heck it out.
