Legal Question in Criminal Law in Ohio
Bail bonds
My husband got a bail bond and used our house as security. He died before the trial happened. Now the bondsman is attempting to collect the bond from me. Can this be done? I thought that once there was no trial or person that the bond was voided. Thanks for your help.

Re: Bail bonds
Has the court been notified that your husband is deceased? Has the court been provided with a death certificate? are you sure the bondsman is not attempting to collect his fee, which he would be entitled to.

Re: Bail bonds
No. He has no right to collect the bond under the circumstances you describe.
