Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Ohio
Was I Discriminated Against?
I recently worked at a fast food restaurant. I had worked there about a year, and some other males my age were also hired there and worked about 6 months. We got a new owner and his wife started running the store. She called one male teenager stupid and said he needed a ''stupid'' nametag to wear because he forgot his. She made us all do horrible jobs that no one else ever had to do like clean the ceilings and the walls of our cooler. Most of the teen males worked that night and she gave us the jobs to do because she said, ''All men are incompitent and can't do anythin unless they are told to do so.'' Also they started hiring more people, ALL of them were women and they started out making more money then all of the people who had been there for six months. They were still making $5.25, while the new girls started at $5.75, $6.50, and up. Only one of them worked at a Dairy Queen before while the others never worked there before and didn't know how to do anything, while all the teen males knew how to do eveything. Do we have a case where we can sue?

Re: Was I Discriminated Against?
What you're describing is definitely a pattern and practice of gender-based harassment and discrimination in salary.
Sure, you can file a claim with the EEOC (each of you should file), and then the EEOC should investigate. Thereafter, they will send you a Right to Sue letter, if they don't take up your claims themselves.
THEN, you can sue in federal or state court.
